Working My Way Through Finals

I had my last class on Thursday! And it wasn't even a real class. We basically did our final "core" session in which we talked about what reentry into the US might be like, and then we went to the Weinachtsmarkt for a while and had some Glühwein. So classes are officially over. Which is exciting. But also not exciting because that means finals are here.

I have had two finals already. One on Friday afternoon, and one this morning. Friday was Regions in the EU. It wasn't too bad because we basically knew exactly what two of the three essays were going to be. There were also some definitions to be filled out, but it was choose 2 out of 7 possibilities, so that wasn't very difficult either. Today was my final for my political science seminar (the one class that everyone in our program is required to take). It wasn't too bad either actually. She gave us 10 possibilities for essay questions on our study guide, and four of them were on the exam. It's always much easier when they give you a study guide. Plus I feel like you actually learn more that way if you focus in on a few topics and go in-depth on them. So two finals down, three more to go. I have two on Monday, so that might be kind of a rough day.

But other than finals, not much is going on here in Germany. They are still working on trying to finish the floor in our flat, although I think they might have finally finished today. Although there is still the problem of everyone's permanent footprints in the cement in the hallway. I wonder what will happen with that. Oh, one other thing did happen. Today after our final a bunch of went to the Weinachtsmarkt and did some holiday shopping. So I finally got started on that. Although I still have a lot to do, but I'm mostly just bringing back really tiny presents because I don't think I'll have that much room in my luggage.

Oh, and as far as trying to get a job for spring semester, so far it's a no-go. Although there are some possibilities still. I haven't been rejected by all of them yet.

We got snow in Freiburg today! It was the first snowfall of the season for them. But it's not really cold enough for snow to stick to the ground here. So it's all gone already. But it reminded me of home. I can't wait to see real snow again. And have people around that actually know what cold weather is. You should hear these crybabies in my program that whine when it gets below 50 F. Well, not all of them are that bad. There are a few Minnesotans in our program that know what real weather is.
