I went to a beer fest in Stuttgart on Saturday with a bunch of people from my program. I think there were about 14 or 15 of us total. But once we got there, we split up into smaller groups of four or five. It was reallllly crowded. I would actually compare it to the Minnesota State Fair in a lot of ways, however. They had a ton of rides that people could go on. Although the rides were a lot better than the ones at the state fair. And they had a ton of different foods that are extremely bad for you. I had a huge wurst and fries. They even had a giant slide like the one at the state fair. The only huge difference with the Minnesota State Fair is that they also have somewhere between 8-10 huge beer tents (oh, and I guess they lack the farm animals that we see at the state fair). We were able to get inside one of them and look around and such, but we weren't able to get seats because it was just too busy. So we walked around the beer fest for a while and got some beers at different stands and such. And then we left the beer fest and explored downtown Stuttgart for a few hours. It is not the most spectacular city in the world, but it was still cool to see. The train rides back to Freiburg sucked though. The trains were absolutely packed, and I had to stand for a few hours. And there were lots of drunk Germans singing and being loud. We didn't get back to Freiburg until about 1.00 in the morning.
Today has been a fairly uneventful day. Usually Sundays are pretty lazy around here. I've been doing some homework, and this morning we did a bunch of cleaning in the kitchen. That's one thing that surprised me. My roommates are kind of slobs. They leave dishes in the sink all the time, and I end up washing them a lot of the time. I thought Germans would have been much cleaner and always on top of their dishes. I guess not. I had a Döner for lunch (naturally), and I had some pasta down in Drew's flat for dinner (he's one of my buds from my program). I've also been watching the Gameday for the Twins game on mlb.com. I can't believe they even still have a shot at the playoffs. They have incredible division comebacks sometimes. I just hope it's not a repeat of last year. That was a killer.
This is going to be a busy week. I have three papers due, plenty of reading, and a ton of different activities and such. Here are all the things planned for this upcoming week before our next field study trip to Brussels, Paris, and Luxembourg: field trip meeting, bowling, salsa lessons, day trip to the Alps, and a soccer tournament and party with IES students and staff. Yikes. Not sure how I'm going to get all my homework done.
Oh, and I got a new roommate today. So now here is the status of my flatmates: there are eight of us total. 5 guys, 3 ladies total. 4 Germans (all guys), 2 Americans (me and Laura), and 2 Chinese girls, though one of them has studied in the US for 4 years now. So now every room is full in our flat. And there will be even more dishes, though I'm not sure how that's possible.
Here are some pics from Stuttgart:

Eating a huge bratwurst. It was delicious.

That bitte/please thing is HILARIOUS
